With the summer holidays approaching, questions often arise regarding which decisions each parent may take independently concerning their children’s holidays.


As a general rule, either parent may travel abroad with their minor children without requiring the other parent’s authorisation, although there is a duty to inform the other parent of the travel destination.
For travel to be dependent on authorisation, this must be expressly established in the parenting responsibilities arrangement, whether by agreement between the parents or by court decision.
