A future protection mandate allows individuals to appoint, in advance, a trusted person to manage personal and financial matters if they later require protective measures.

It is closely connected to the Portuguese accompanied adult regime and may be taken into account by the court if protective measures become necessary. More than a legal formality, it is a way to safeguard autonomy and ensure clarity during vulnerable stages of life.
