The liability of digital platforms is currently an hot topic, and some recent examples regard their intervention in USA elections, and the blocking of news website in Australia.

The European Commission had already presented two legislative proposals aimed at regulating the services and markets of digital platforms, with a view to provide greater security for the user of digital platforms. The Digital Services Act sets out important steps in the regulation of advertising and the liability of online platforms.

The Digital Markets Act is intended as the solution to keep digital markets “open and contestable” and preserve effective competition in the areas of the largest digital platforms.
